In the spring of 2007, Youth Mobilizers of Columbus, IN conducted a survey with the teens of Columbus. The results lead to the conclusion that the teens were in need of a place to call their own.
The Teen Center Initiative was formed to make a teen center possible in Columbus. It consists of adult community members as well as teens (ages 13-19) who work on Programming, Funding, and Facility committees.
The teens of TBBC hope to be housed by the teen center and will work in the building. The Teen Center will also provide teens with information of social events, volunteer opportunities, and how to get involved in the community.
Ideally, the Teen Center will be an outlet for teens to find motivation, inspiration and peace of mind. Members of the Teen Center Initiative are constantly trying to spread the word, gain support and find new members.

In July of 2009, members of the Teen Center Initiative hosted a softball tournament to raise funds, gain support and put a spotlight on the Teen Center Initiative.
